Uma Alexandra Beepat
Soul Alignment Coach, Spiritual Mentor, Awakened Executive Contributor
Uma Alexandra Beepat is of British and Guyanese descent and spent her formative years between London, Barbados, and Guyana before moving to the United States for college.
From childhood, it was evident that she was different—a fact first recognized by her grandfather, an admired teacher of Islamic education. During her baby ceremony, he saw a bright white light shining out of her and told her grandmother that she was a gift to the world.
Uma had the ability for spirit communication since she was a child, preferring the company of Spirit friends to human ones, and this is why she was seen as a loner.
Her psychic awareness deepened due to childhood trauma, an unfortunate and painful experience that heightened her sensitivity and intuition. She endured significant emotional and mental stress from this ordeal, leading her down a path of rebellion, aggression, and self-destructive behavior in her teenage years.
However, amidst the chaos, her psychic gifts remained a constant presence—a quiet knowing, a voice that whispered truths, and a sensitivity that allowed her to read people and situations with uncanny accuracy.
It wasn’t until Uma attended college in New Jersey that her journey of healing and self-discovery truly began. Seeking help through therapy, she started unraveling the emotional turmoil that had shaped her early years. At the same time, she was introduced to yoga and meditation, which proved to be the turning points in her spiritual journey. Through the yogic path, Uma found clarity, discipline, and self-regulation, enabling her to embrace her psychic nature rather than fear it.
In 2000, Uma graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Food and Nutritional Sciences, with a Minor in Business Management. She was recognized for her academic excellence, leadership potential, and commitment to service, becoming the first-ever recipient of the Centennial Sponsorship Award. The award honored her dedication to ethics, education, and humanitarian efforts, values she carried throughout her life.
Demonstrating an unyielding work ethic, Uma then completed her Master’s Degree in Health Care Management in just one year instead of two, making her the youngest graduate in the program’s history.
Beyond her academic achievements, Uma’s passion for service has been a guiding force since childhood. Even as a young girl in Guyana, she donated two-thirds of her allowance to local orphanages.
Her commitment to philanthropy continued after college when she was accepted into the prestigious Philadelphia AmeriCorps program, where she worked as an HIV Prevention Counselor. In this role, she provided HIV testing, delivered counseling, and educated high-risk populations, including sex workers and inner-city residents.
After her service in Philadelphia, Uma returned to Guyana to work with grassroots organizations and the United Nations, focusing on community education and wellness initiatives in impoverished villages and schools.
Upon returning to the United States, she continued her global humanitarian efforts by participating in volunteer missions with Cross Cultural Solutions, traveling to Guatemala, Peru, Morocco, and Brazil. These experiences deepened her understanding of cultural healing practices and solidified her desire to dedicate her life to spiritual service.
While Uma had always been aware of her psychic abilities, it was in her 30s that she fully embraced her path as a spiritual guide. By this time, she had already spent decades honing her gifts, studying metaphysics, and immersing herself in spiritual disciplines. She became a dedicated student of meditation and yoga, eventually uncovering her abilities as a channel and claircognizant.
Determined to refine her craft, Uma spent years training in various spiritual modalities across the U.S. and the U.K.
She pursued certifications in over 30 metaphysical and healing techniques, including but not limited to Reiki, Integrated Energy Therapy, Access Bars, Past-Life Regression, Hypnosis, Shamanic Healing, Crystal Healing, Flower Essences, Aromatherapy, and Sound Therapy.
Through this extensive training, she developed a holistic approach to spiritual development, combining ancient wisdom with modern practices to guide individuals toward alignment and self-discovery.
As an INFJ personality type, the rarest of all personality types (only 1-2% of the population), Uma possesses a deep understanding of human nature and an innate ability to guide others toward transformation. Her introspective nature, combined with her visionary outlook, allows her to connect with people on a profound level, helping them navigate their spiritual journeys with empathy and wisdom.
In 2009, Uma took a bold step in her spiritual journey by founding Lotus Signature Massage, which would then be called Lotus Wellness Center before its now known name as The Lotus and The Light Metaphysical Center.
As CEO and Owner, she built the center into a sanctuary for spiritual seekers, providing soul alignment coaching, psychic and intuitive assessments, and a wide range of classes focused on spiritual, metaphysical, and personal development.
Under Uma’s leadership, The Lotus and The Light became more than just a metaphysical center—it became a community where people could explore their spirituality, connect with like-minded individuals, and find healing.
At the heart of Uma’s work is the belief that when you unleash your mind, you unleash your world—unlocking limitless possibilities for personal growth, healing, and transformation. This guiding principle is woven into everything she teaches, from her metaphysical center to her online presence.
Uma’s work extends beyond her center’s walls. She is an accomplished author, having penned two books: Chronicles of a Spirit Walker, which became an Amazon Best Seller, and The Awakened Life.
Through her writings, she shares her personal journey, insights, and spiritual teachings, offering readers a roadmap to self-awareness and enlightenment.
In the time of the pandemic of 2020, Uma watched helplessly as metaphysical and wellness centers around her closed their doors for business. Recognizing the power of digital media in today’s world, Uma took her presence online in the hopes of keeping her business afloat, not knowing the sensation she would become.
She is currently a social media content creator, engaging with audiences on TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram. Through her platforms, she shares educational content on spirituality, tarot, metaphysics, and personal growth, reaching thousands of individuals worldwide.
Her online presence allows her to make spiritual teachings accessible to a global audience, breaking down barriers and empowering people from all walks of life.
Despite her extensive credentials and success, Uma remains humble and deeply committed to her mission of service. She is very much an introvert preferring to spend her free time with a few select people or alone, reading books or dong spiritual activities. She continues to mentor aspiring spiritual practitioners, offering guidance based on her own lived experiences.
Her life’s work is a testament to resilience, transformation, and the power of embracing one’s authentic self.
For those seeking spiritual guidance, Uma offers a wealth of resources—whether through her center, her books, her online content, or her one-on-one coaching sessions. She has dedicated her life to helping others awaken their consciousness and step into their true purpose. Connect with Uma at www.thelotusandthelight.com.
